Prud is a village near Vid, situated at the source of the River Norin, where drinking water is sourced for towns and villages in the Neretva Valley, Pelješac peninsula, and the islands of Korčula and Lastovo. There is a border crossing to Bosnia and Hercegovina, and the highway to Zagreb and to Međugorje, famous for Marian pilgrimages. The marshland between Prud and Vid contains the ornithological reserves Prud and Pod Gredom, which are vital migration and wintering grounds for many bird species. The rich wildlife can best be observed from a traditional boat (lađa), and local specialties can be found at the restaurant Vrilo.
