Savudrija is the westernmost point of Croatia and is the first tourist destination when you arrive in Istria from the west.

Visit Savudrija because of the beautiful beaches and great tourist offer in the area, but do not forget to discover the dark stories related to the origin of the name Savudrija and the oldest active lighthouse on the Adriatic.

A beacon of unrequited love
Savudrija is home to the oldest active lighthouse on the Adriatic, built in the early 19th century. It is as high as 36 meters. It is the first lighthouse in the world to use coal-distilled gas for lighting. The light was provided by coal from Istria, excavated in a coal mine near Labin.
